The information below pertains to exchange or visiting students coming to the University of Toronto (U of T). It is not intended for degree-seeking international students, transfer students, or students from any other program at U of T.

Global Affairs Canada Scholarships 

Below is the list of Global Affairs Canada scholarships available to exchange students from one of U of T’s partner institutions or visiting students admitted to the International Visiting Graduate Students (IVGS) program. To apply for one of the scholarships, please follow the instructions on the Global Affairs Canada Scholarship Application Process.

Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED)

The SEED program provides students from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.

Eligibility

Candidates must be citizens of an ASEAN member state (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos (Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR)), Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam).

Scholarship value and duration

  • CAD 10,200 for college, undergraduate or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research; or
  • CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research; or
  • CAD 15,900 for undergraduate and college students for a period of eight months or two academic terms of study or research.

Application

Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)

ELAP scholarships provide students from Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions, at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.

Eligibility

Candidates must be citizens of one of the following eligible countries:

  • Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos;
  • Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama;
  • North America: Mexico;
  • South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela.

Scholarship value and duration

  • CAD 8,200 for college, undergraduate or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research; or
  • CAD 11,100 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research.

Study in Canada Scholarships

Study in Canada Scholarships provide students from post-secondary institutions located in a wide range of countries and territories with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.

Eligibility

Candidates must be citizens of one of the following eligible countries/territories:

  • Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan;
  • Europe: Türkiye, Ukraine;
  • Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia;
  • Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda.

Scholarship value and duration

  • CAD 10,200 for college, undergraduate or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research; or
  • CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research.

Other Scholarship Opportunities

Donor

Family and friends in memory of Sylvia (Woodsworth) Campbell (1917-1988), daughter of Ada and Harold Frederick Woodsworth (1883-1939, Victoria College Class of 1907) of Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan, who devoted her later life to the cause of continuing education for mature women. Established in 1990.

Eligibility

A female student of Kwansei Gakuin University, Nishinomiya, Japan who is a participant in the student exchange between that university and the University of Toronto and who registers at Victoria College.

Eligibility

Awarded to an undergraduate student coming from Czechia to take part in an established exchange program between a Czech University and the University of Toronto. The student must be registered in the Faculty of Arts & Science.

Awarded to an undergraduate student coming from Czechia to take part in an established exchange program between a Czech University and the University of Toronto. The student must be registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Awarded to an undergraduate student coming from Czechia to take part in an established exchange program between a Czech University and the University of Toronto in the Centre for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies.

Eligibility

The student must be registered in the Faculty of Arts & Science. Priority will be given to a University of Toronto student going on exchange to either University of St. Andrews, Edinburgh or Glasgow. If this scholarship is not awarded to an outbound student, it will be awarded to an inbound exchange student from one of these universities. Details are available on the Trinity College website.
